Zone Wars Complete Guide

Zone Wars is where 1v1.LOL gets real. Multiple players, a shrinking zone, mats to manage, and the constant threat of a third-party. Every decision matters, where you go, how much you farm, when you fight, when you run. It's the mode that rewards smart play over pure mechanics.

The Basics

You spawn with default weapons and limited materials. The play zone shrinks over time, forcing players together. Last one standing wins. Sounds simple. It's not.

  • Players: 4-8 depending on the lobby
  • Materials: Limited, you need to farm them
  • Zone: Shrinks every ~15 seconds
  • Goal: Be the last one alive

Early Game: Farm and Survey

First 20 seconds = don't fight. Instead:

  • Farm materials from any structure you can reach. Hit walls, floors, anything breakable. Prioritize getting at least 300 materials
  • Watch where others go. You'll see 2-3 people nearby. Note who they are and which direction they're heading
  • Take a defensive position. Find a wall or low building to tuck behind. Let other players fight each other first
πŸ’‘ Pro Tip

Let the hot-heads kill each other early. You survive by staying quiet and collecting mats while everyone else is depleting theirs.

Mid Game: Rotate Smart

Once the zone starts shrinking, your job is to rotate into safer terrain without getting caught in the open. Rotation is the #1 skill that separates winners from losers.

The Safe Rotation

  • Always rotate before the zone forces you to
  • Use cover: walls, buildings, terrain
  • Build ramps if you need to cross open ground
  • Never run in a straight line. Zig-zag to dodge incoming shots

The High Ground Rotation

If you have materials, ramp up and rotate across rooftops. You see more, you're harder to hit, and you can drop down onto enemies.

The Risky Rotation

Need to cross open ground? Build a wall behind you as you move. It blocks line-of-sight and gives you a second to react if someone shoots. Mats well spent.

Material Management

Materials are currency. Run out and you're dead. Most losses in late-game Zone Wars come from running out of mats, not bad aim.

The Rules

  • Always have 300+ mats. Below that, you can't sustain a fight
  • Farm between fights. After every engagement, hit 3-4 walls to refill
  • Don't waste mats on fancy 90s if you're low. Simple single walls for defense
  • Break your own structures after a fight to reclaim mats

Endgame: The Chaos

Final zone. Small circle. 3-4 players left. Everyone has mats, everyone wants the win. Here's how to close it out:

Take the High Ground

Whoever has the highest position usually wins. Build up first. Control the angle. Drop shotgun shots on players below.

Don't Third-Party First

If you see two enemies fighting each other, watch. Don't jump in immediately. Wait until one of them dies or is low HP, then finish the weakened one, then turn on the other.

Build Defensive Boxes

When you're exposed, a quick 1x1 box (4 walls + roof) saves you. Heal up inside, plan your next move, pop out to fight.

Use Terrain

The final zone often has natural cover, rocks, tunnels, walls. Use it instead of building. Saves mats for the final 1v1.

⚠️ Common Mistake

Don't chase the last kill. If someone runs, let them. They'll probably die to the zone anyway. Chasing gets you shot from 3 different angles.

Reading the Play

Good Zone Wars players watch the mini-map constantly. They count kills, track where shots are coming from, and predict where the next enemy will appear.

  • Kill notifications tell you how many are left. Count them in your head
  • Building sounds in your area mean someone's near. Prepare to fight
  • Silence is suspicious. If nobody is shooting, someone is probably about to surprise you

Weapons Priority

You usually start with a shotgun and rifle. The loop:

  • Shotgun: close range (under 10 meters). Most of your fights
  • Rifle: mid range, ramp defense, poking
  • Pickaxe: farming. Don't bring it to a fight

Switch weapons based on distance. Sprinting toward a fight? Pre-swap to shotgun. Holding high ground? Rifle ready.

Quick Win Checklist

  • Farm 300+ mats in the first 20 seconds
  • Avoid the first fight: let others die
  • Rotate early: use cover, zig-zag
  • Keep 300+ mats at all times
  • Take high ground in the final circle
  • Third-party weakened enemies, not fresh ones
  • Close the game out with confidence, not chase plays
You don't win Zone Wars by getting the most kills. You win by making fewer mistakes than everyone else.

Practice Drill

Jump into Zone Wars 5-10 times focused only on surviving. Don't worry about kills. Your goal: finish in the top 3 consistently. Once you can do that reliably, start adding aggression back in.

Zone Wars is a patience mode. The longer you live, the more information you gather, the better your decisions become.
