1v1.LOL has a ton of modes, way more than most casual players realize. Some are for sharpening skills. Some are for goofing around with friends. Some are ranked grinds. Let's go through all of them so you know exactly what you're getting into.
The Trophy Modes
These are the two modes on the main tab, the ones with trophies on the line. Everything else is practice or party play.
Battle Royale
The headline mode. Drop in, loot, build, and outlast everyone else as the zone closes. Full-size BR with a real map, not a compressed arena, rotations, height and material management all matter. If you only play one mode, it's this one.
- Best for: Everyone, the main event, solo or in a party
- Game time: 5-12 minutes
- Trophies: yes, placement and eliminations both count
1v1 Clash
The classic duel with ranked stakes. One opponent, no teams, no zone, just build, edit and shoot until someone takes the rounds. Matchmaking pairs you by skill, and wins and losses move your trophies.
- Best for: Measuring your actual skill, grinding rank, pure mechanics
- Game time: 2-5 minutes
- Max players: 2
The warm-up that works: 5 min Aim Trainer (aim) β a few bot matches (build speed, zero pressure) β then queue 1v1 Clash or drop into Battle Royale.
The Practice Modes
Practice
Solo sandbox. Unlimited time, no opponents, just you and the map. Great for testing sensitivity, drilling build combos, or trying new keybinds.
Bots Practice Match
A real match against bots. All the pacing of a live game with none of the pressure, the best place to rehearse a rotation or a new edit before taking it into trophies.
Aim Trainer
Shooting gallery mode. Pop-up targets, no movement, pure aim practice. 5-10 minutes here before a ranked session does wonders.
Zombies
Waves of zombies attack. Survive as long as you can. Fun, goofy, good for unwinding after a tilt session.
The Custom Modes (Party Only)
These are the hidden gems. Only playable in a party with friends, no trophies, no matchmaking, just your lobby and your rules. This is where the game gets weird and fun.
Battle Royale Custom
The full BR map, but it's your lobby. Fill it with your party, add bots to top it up, and run the mode without strangers.
1v1 Clash Custom
Clash rules in a private room. Settle it with a friend without touching matchmaking.
1v1 Custom
The plain 1v1 ruleset in a private lobby, the classic duel, no ranked stakes attached.
Deathmatch Custom
Free-for-all. Everyone vs everyone. Respawn on death, first to X kills wins. Pure chaos, huge fun.
BoxFight Big Custom
Close-quarters chaos in a big box. Non-stop shotgun fights, edit plays and rapid builds, the fastest way to sharpen your close-range game with the squad.
Zone Custom
Zone Wars with custom player counts. Shrinking zone, material management, smart rotations. Want a 3v3v3v3? Do it here.
City ZoneWars Custom
Zone Wars on an urban map with more cover and building layouts. Different feel from the standard Zone Wars, more vertical fighting.
Zombies Custom
Zombie waves with your party. Co-op survival, see how deep your squad can get before it collapses.
Which Mode Should You Play?
I want to improve
- Beginner: Aim Trainer, then bot matches. Get comfortable with the basics
- Intermediate: Queue 1v1 Clash. Practice edits and shotgun fights under real pressure
- Advanced: Battle Royale for rotations and endgames, 1v1 Clash for raw mechanics
I want to have fun with friends
- Deathmatch Custom: instant chaos
- Battle Royale Custom: the big map, your lobby only
- Zone Custom / City ZoneWars: pick your player counts
I want to chill solo
- Zombies: grind waves, turn brain off
- Bots Practice Match: real match feel, zero stakes
- Practice: just vibe
I want to climb
- Battle Royale: placement and elims both pay
- 1v1 Clash, if you'd rather let pure skill decide it
If you've got 10 minutes and want maximum fun: 1v1 Clash. Fast queues, short matches, constant action. Got longer? Battle Royale.
Party System
To play custom modes, you need to be in a party. Here's how:
- From the main menu: click "Party"
- Invite friends via link or party code
- The party leader picks the mode
- Hit play: everyone gets pulled into the match together
After the match ends, the party stays together. Run it back, pick a new mode, or invite more friends. Up to 16 players per party.
Final Thoughts
Don't feel like you need to play every mode. Most players live in Battle Royale or 1v1 Clash and rotate into customs with friends. Find what clicks for you and commit to it.
The one mode every player should try at least once per session: Aim Trainer. 5 minutes of aim reps before your real games. Non-negotiable.
